Taster Sessions for Starters Course

At Bath Paddleboard Centre we are going to keep things simple and straight forward for beginners to paddle board. We are ready to give you a 1.5 hour stand up paddleboarding experience, as well as a follow on progression session which encourages you to practice your new found skills.

We are not going to list various different courses and levels that can become somewhat confusing, sometimes simplicity is best! We can guarantee you will have a great time while learning the basics of this fun and exciting sport. This is not a difficult sport, within a couple of hours you will be paddling your board with confidence.

What can you expect from your first 1.5 hour starter lesson:

  • Safety brief
  • Awareness of water and weather conditions
  • Understanding of the board and paddle
  • Getting on and off the board correctly and safely
  • Body position and board balance
  • Paddle strokes
  • Basic turning
  • Fun games

Further lessons 2.5 hours. (Wetsuit recommended)

Safe Paddler Award Course

Already done some paddleboarding? Want to improve your skills? This is the course for you.

This course is a perfect follow-on from our Taster Session Course or for those who have done some paddleboarding and wish to develop their skills. At the end of this session you will have the confidence and skills to make get the best out of your paddleboard, while looking after yourself and others.

The sessions will cover:

  • Equipment
  • Launching and landing
  • Forward paddling
  • Turning - Whilst stationary and on the move
  • Step back turns
  • Other tips and tricks to help you get the best out of your paddleboarding.
  • Self rescue
  • Rescuing others
  • Towing

What to wear:

  • Leggings or Shorts
  • T shirt or Baselayer
  • Old trainers (you don't mind getting wet) or appropriate water sport shoes
  • Windproof / Waterproof Top

What to bring:

  • Change of Clothes & Footwear
  • Changing Towel
  • Personal Medication
  • Water bottle
  • Mobile Pouch (if taking mobile on the water)
  • Landyard (if you wear spectacles)
